Benefits of Water Based Therapy for Autism
The advantages of swimming and aquatic therapy are well known, and they have been shown to be among the most successful kinds of treatment for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Swimming is a great form of exercise for children with autism for several reasons. First, the buoyancy of the water can provide a sense of weightlessness and reduce joint stress, which can be beneficial for children with sensory processing difficulties. Second, the repetitive movements involved in swimming can provide a sense of predictability and routine, which can be calming for children with autism.
The pool used for Swimclusion is maintained at a consistently warm 34°C, creating an optimal environment for individuals on the autism spectrum to benefit from these sensory and emotional effects.
We welcome NDIS participants and can work with you to get the most out of your plan.

Swimclusion for NDIS Participants
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government-funded program that provides support for people with disabilities in Australia. As part of this program, individuals with autism may be eligible for funding to access water based therapy or other aquatic programs. This funding can be used to cover the costs of specialized swim instruction for individuals with autism, as well as any related equipment or accommodations that may be necessary. To find out more about the NDIS and how it can support individuals with autism, you can visit the NDIS website or contact the NDIS directly.
There are several ways that an NDIS client might pay for their invoices, but only two ways are available with the Swimclusion program:
Self-Managed
The client manages their own NDIS plan. They will pay for all of their appointments out of their own pocket, and claim the money back from the NDIS themselves. Self-managed clients are to be treated the same as private paying clients, and they should pay for their appointments on the day.
Plan-Managed
A third-party agency manages the NDIS plan for the client. We send an invoice directly to the third party for payment to be made via EFT. Payment will be deposited in to the bank account and will be receipted in the Nookal system by the manager once it has been paid.
Please note: Swimclusion is not currently registered to provide services to Agency-Managed clients.

What Our Clients Say
"My two boys have been attending Swimclusion classes at Adelaide Hydrotherapy for nearly 2 months now and we have been amazed at their progress! Our instructor has the most beautiful, gentle manner and I feel very safe leaving them in her capable hands. Having specialised experience with Autistic Children, I can relax knowing they are well taken care of in their session with her. It has been a very pleasurable 'therapy' experience, watching them excel at their individual levels due to the rapport Vanessa has built with each of them so quickly.

"When we recently moved to a house with a backyard pool, I was nervous about A’s ability to swim. He had swimming lessons but I wasn’t confident that he could manage in deeper water. After just 2 lessons he was able to take to the water confidently, swimming from one end of the pool to the other."
